According to a report, Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have purportedly never lost contact throughout these years. The phonecalls were reportedly harmless and did not cause alarm for Lachey's wife Vanessa, as well as Simpson's husband.

However, the ex-couple's phonecalls purportedly got more frequent late last year, sparking speculations that the two might be rekindling their romance.

"If they had children together there might be a reason to talk occasionally about visitation, vacations, holidays, etc. But that's not the case here!" Celeb Dirty Laundry speculated.

"This insider divulged [to National Enquirer] ]that if Vanessa Minnillo and Eric Johnson found out how many phone calls have been swapped between Jess and Nick? Oh no! There would probably be meltdowns of epic proportions on both sides!" the article continued.

Rumors of Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson frequent phonecalls came amid buzz about Simpson's husband purportedly getting too close with her mom, Tina Simpson.

"Jessica's mom, Tina, posted a new photo with her son-in-law on Monday, striking a pose you don't often see between family members," Entertainment Tonight reported via Yahoo.

"Talk about one close-knit family. However, some commenters took issue with the shot of Eric's head in between Tina's legs, using words like 'creepy,' 'weird,' and even 'inappropriate' to describe the photo," the report continued.

However, the report went on to point out that Tina Simpson also posted a photo of her with Ashley Simpson's husband, Evan Ross, captioned ""Blessed by the 2 best son in laws!!!"

Jessica Simpson's camp is yet to comment on her mom and her husband's social media photo, as well as on rumors that she and Nick Lachey are purportedly rekindling their romance.
