Gorillaz Confirmed To Release New Album In 2016; Albarn And Hewlett Buries The Hatchet

Fans have been patiently waiting for roughly more than five years for the follow-up of the widely acclaimed album "Plastic Beach" by the Gorillaz.

As such, any news detailing about the new album by Gorillaz this 2016 would definitely make any fanboy excited and place them at the edge of their seats.

Gig Wise recently reported that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, creators and fellow collaborators for the musical act Gorillaz, have definitely confirmed a new album being released this 2016.

Apparently, the project started after the two buried the hatchet regarding past issues among themselves. 

Damon Albarn, who is also known as part of the seminal 90s alternative rock band Blur, announced in mid-2015 that he would be bringing back the Gorillaz and he intends to release a new album targeted for 2016, Consequence of Sound noted.

Moreover, according to ABC News, Albarn also stated in an interview that he was planning to start recording for the upcoming album back in September. 

"I'm starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record," the Blur frontman said in an interview. "I've just been really, really busy so I haven't had a chance.

"I'd love to just get back into that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week."

In addition, fellow Gorillaz creator Jamie Hewlett shared his insight regarding the plans to release a new album this 2016 by saying that he is definitely "working at the moment." 

"I'm working on it at the moment, and it's going very well," Hewlett said in an interview via Seat Geek. "I'm very excited. I don't want to say too much about it, but I'm at that phase of experimentation."

Hewlett further explained that amidst the creative phase that he's into for the latest Gorillaz record, he doesn't want to know what anyone else is doing to influence his work, NME stated.

"What I try not to do when I'm working in this creative period, the cooking of the mess is going to other peoples' exhibitions and look at other peoples' work," the artist explained. "I close my eyes, and don't want to know what anyone else is doing."

"Doing that has kind of ruined the creative process for me in the past, and I don't want to let that happen again."
