Will Jimmy Fallon Lose His Job Because Of Alcoholic Rumors? NBC Boss Speaks Up
Jimmy Fallon is reportedly a "high-functioning alcoholic," but can he still do his job as a late night talk show host?
According to NBC boss Bob Greenblatt, Fallon won't be losing his position on the high-rated show.
"He goes out and has fun," he defended the host, as reported by Moviepilot. "He's had some accidents. Aside from that, he's in better shape than he's ever been."
He added that NBC isn't playing dumb about the speculations that accuse Jimmy Fallon of being an alcoholic. Nevertheless, the broadcast company knows that not everything being published right now is the exact truth.
One thing's for sure, however, the company would definitely want to keep their asset safe.
"Always, we are worried about his safety," Greenblatt added. "There have been conversations about that. The stories are exaggerated about this."
It's also clear the rumors won't be costing Fallon his job.
"Jimmy will be with us for years to come," the boss assured, hinting that Fallon might just stay with the station. "Perhaps long after I leave NBC and some of you leave your jobs."
Greenblatt's statements come after the New York Post report that claimed that NBC executives were growing concerned at the funny man's alleged alcoholism.
One bartender reportedly told the site that Fallon was a "mess," and that "everything" that's being reported about his drinking problem is true.
Fallon's former "Saturday Night Live" colleague Horatio Sanz also reportedly revealed to Vulture last year that they were "super functioning alcoholics." He even suggested that the host also lets out stress by fighting.
"They say that kind of goes hand in hand with SNL," he was quoted as saying. "Some kind of substance-abuse issues, because it's so stressful you easily find yourself blowing off steam a lot."
Alcoholic or not, Jimmy Fallon is still pulling in a lot of viewers for "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon."
