Due to the PlayStation Network outage, Sony is sending out voucher codes to PS Plus members that extend players' subscription for a day, Independent  reported.

Last Jan. 4, PlayStation Network was completely down for 11 hours wherein almost core services were inaccessible. A new hacking group named Phantom Squad took responsibility over the matter.

However, Sony didn't acknowledge the said DDOS attack claimed by Phantom Squad. Instead, a representative said that PlayStation Network, PS Plus and PlayStation Now services were under maintenance.

"We are aware that some gamers are not able to sign in to the PlayStation Network as the server is undergoing maintenance, we are currently working hard to have the servers up and running again," the customer service representative wrote, according to Express UK.

"We apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience. We kindly advise you to try to connect again later on today. Thank you for understanding."

The said system downtime infuriated many PS Plus subscribers, but Sony found a way to pacify its loyal players.

A few days ago, Sony started sending out e-mails containing a voucher code to PS Plus members. The codes will extend players' usage of the program for a day.

Sony noted that PS Plus members who have an active account have until March 31 to redeem the codes for the extension.

"Due to the recent PlayStation®Network interruption we are giving you a 1-DAY extension to your PlayStation®Plus membership. Please redeem the following voucher code by March 31, 2016, 11:59 PM PST," Sony wrote on its e-mail, Destructoid cited.

"The extension will be applied to the end of your current membership. This applies to all accounts that had an active PlayStation®Plus membership on January 4, 2016."

Destructoid added that players who haven't received the e-mail may check their spam folders.
