Xbox One Backwards Compatibility January Games List To Roll Out Soon; Update Gets Good Reviews

Microsoft's Xbox One backwards compatibility update is getting another boost early this year.

According to Gamespot, Xbox One boss Phil Spencer announced that the next-generation console's list of backwards compatible games for January will be made available very soon. 

The Xbox One executive recently took to Twitter to assure gamers that their wait will soon be over, as he and his team are just giving the list one last pass before it is released this month.

"Have a couple more games doing the final run through on, wanted to wait until we had the full list, not too much longer," Spencer (@XboxP3) said in his Twitter account.

The Xbox One backwards compatibility feature was rolled out November of last year as part of the New Xbox One Experience update.

With the launch came the release of 104 Xbox 360 backward compatible supported games. And in December, 16 more games were added to the list.

Microsoft, however, has not given a hint on what titles will be included in the January list.

The Xbox's Feedback Website stated, "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" is currently the most requested Xbox 360 game, which can be played using the Xbox One backwards compatibility update with 141,000 votes. 

Completing the top five most requested Xbox 360 games are "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," "Red Dead Redemption," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," and "Call of Duty: Black Ops."

In its review of the Xbox One, Gotta Be Mobile gave the console high marks, particularly with Microsoft's release of its backwards compatibility feature.

"The Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Program is a stroke of absolute genius and works as promised," the tech site declared.

Making a comparison of the Xbox One and PS4's features, the gaming portal believes that "once the [Xbox One] library grows it'll easily top the pseudo-backwards compatibility that the PS4 offers through Sony's PlayStation Now streaming service. "

Although the Xbox One compatibility feature has only been recently released, it seems that Microsoft has another winner in its hands.
