'The Last Of Us' Update: Movie Still In Progress; Massie Williams Confident To Get Ellie Role?

The upcoming live-action movie "The Last of Us," which happens to be a film adaptation of a well-embraced PS4 video game of the same name, was first announced in early 2014.

"It's an adaptation of the story of The Last of Us," said show creator Neil Druckman, according to IGN. "As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film. We're not sure yet. We're only just scratching the surface."

It has been nearly two years already and the big project is reportedly still in progress, adding that the updates about "The Last of Us" movie have been limited as of late, which brought up several questions from the fans as to whether or not it will still push through.

According to Movie News Guide, "The Last of Us" is still in development and it would take more time before filming as everything about the movie is on its "very early days," as noted by the "Game of Thrones" actress Maisie Williams, who will play the lead role as Ellie.

While there has been no clear answers yet as to whether or not the movie will be released in the future, rumor has it that Maisie Williams is still confident to get the role as Ellie.

"There's no script, no director, it's still very early days for the whole project, but if it all goes ahead soon enough I think, yeah, I would love to," Williams said.

Not long after Druckman hinted about the movie, a lot of questions have popped up asking about the plotlines and if it will be wholly inspired by the "The Last of Us" video game.

Though there were no further updates given aside from the project announcement, reports claimed that another lead character named Joel will appear in "The Last of Us" movie next to Maisie Williams' Ellie.
