'Serial' Season 2 Faces Criticisms Amidst Episode Schedule Extension; Season 3 Release Date Confirmed

Not long after it was confirmed that the hit podcast series "Serial" has been renewed for season 2 last year, a new report claimed that the show has rescheduled the releasing of episodes every other week, instead of every week.

"Serial" season 2 came into view in early December and the viewers have since been getting a fixed weekly episode for the investigation of Bowe Bergdahl's case.

While the news didn't sit well to the majority as this would mean more waiting time, production host Sarah Koenig was quick to explain why they decided to set the release of the succeeding episodes to a new timeslot.

"This story goes in so many directions, and as we're reporting it we're getting access to more of the key people close to Bergdahl's case, and to more information than we initially thought we would. Which is great," Koenig wrote on the show's official blog.

She added, "And which means we're going to be adding at least one extra episode to the series. To do that, or at least to do it right, will take some time."

After it was revealed that the show would only be releasing the episode every two weeks, fans have been enraged and Koegnig has received a minor backlash, with some even recalling her allegedly bias questioning during Adnan Syed's conviction in "Serial" season 1.

Following Syed's case, "Serial" season 2 is now on point to the case of Bowe Bergdahl, an American soldier who's facing a court-martial for abadoning his post and showing unpleasant behavior before the enemy.

Reports claimed that the first two episodes of "Serial" season 2 tackled more about Bergdahl's background before he was arrested. On the other side of the exploration, the season's last two episodes are said to discuss more about Bergdahl's captivity, his captors, living conditions and a number of attempted escapes.

On how the new schedule would affect the podcast of "Serial" season 2 still remains unanswered until the next episode finally takes place. Though the exact release date of the third instalment hasn't been disclosed yet, reports added that it will be dropped in spring 2016.
