Sylvester Stallone's Oscar Nod Surprises Fans; Mixed Reactions Released From Actors!

The Oscar nominations are in and a lot of people are quite surprised with the nominations - in fact even some of the actors themselves are taken aback of the news they have received, including Sylvester Stallone. Below are some reactions from both supporters and actors.

According to Entertainment Weekly, when the actor got nominated for his performance on "Creed," he was overwhelmed.

"I am incredibly humbled by this honor. I was not expecting it ... especially at this time in my life," the actor said, who portrayed Rocky Balboa in the film. "I am certainly grateful to the artists and collaborators who helped make it possible."

This will be the second time that Sylvester Stallone got nominated for the same role. However, according to Variety, he is not the first actor to get nominated twice for the same role. There are five other actors who have been previously nominated for an Oscars in the same style, and these are : Peter O'Toole (Henry II in "Becket" and "The Lion in Winter"), Paul Newman (Fast Eddie Felson in "The Hustler" and "The Color of Money"), Peter O'Toole (Henry II in "Becket" and "The Lion in Winter"), Al Pacino (Michael Corleone in two "Godfather" films) and Cate Blanchett, for two "Elizabeth" works.

Other reactions from nominees include Rooney Mara, who's nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal in "Carol."

"To be acknowledged this morning along with Cate, Phyllis, Ed, Carter and Sandy is an incredible honor," the American actress said. "Todd made a beautiful and quiet love story with Carol. I am proud to have been a part of it and feel privileged to have worked with some of our finest artists and one of our greatest directors."

Will Sylvester Stallone grab the trophy for this year's Oscars? Fans are hopeful.
