NBA Trade News And Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers Send Guard To Orlando Magic To Save Money

Cleveland Cavaliers have been front and center of several NBA trade rumors lately but their most recent gameplay didn't involve the names that have been pitched in such claims.

NBA.com confirmed that last year's runner up has sent sophomore guard Joe Harris to Orlando Magic. So, which player did the Cavs get in return? No one for now.

By sending their player to the team, the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired a second-round pick in 2017 and a protected second-round 2020 pick.

And while those are already tempting enough, they were reportedly not the only reasons why they had to give up Joe Harris. NBA.com revealed that by doing so, the Cavs "save nearly $3 million in payroll and luxury taxes." They also opened a new spot on their roster.

"Joe was a real good member of the team," Cavs coach David Blatt said of Harris before Cleveland played in Dallas. "He was a guy we all liked having on our team. A guy I really enjoyed coaching. A terrific teammate and a guy with a real future, I believe, in this league."

But he said, "It's one of those things that you wish it didn't have to happen, but it's understandable under the circumstances why."

Meanwhile, NBA trade rumors suggest that Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to make a move on the forward position. Reportedly, the team is going after Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris.

"It's not simply about LeBron James, but more about the overall defense and offense setup and strategy of the Cavs when playing against the Golden State Warriors,"Movie News Guide wrote.

Additional NBA trade rumors have also touched on Cleveland Cavaliers center Timofey Mozgov who joined the team in 2014.

"As center Timofey Mozgov recently has gone from a prominent starting role to a reserve with the Cleveland Cavaliers, several NBA teams are starting to inquire about his availability via trade," Yahoo reported.
