EOS Lip Balm Lawsuit Detailed; More Rash Victims Surface As Product Drop In Sales!
EOS Lip Balm has deceived its users causing rashes and blisters around their mouths on application. A new class-action lawsuit has been claimed against the product.
As known to the public, the poduct has been one of the popularly promoted drugstore products available in the market, with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus promoting it. The Smooth egg-shaped product was priced at $2.99 and had become a cult favourite among beauty bloggers and teenagers. It is also reported that the brand has 1.3 million followers on Instagram.
The product has been sold since 2009 and had soon positioned itself to be one of the most essential products in the lives of women. Evolutionofsmooth.com -The brand's website promises "Visibly softer lips" and "immediately more beautiful lips".
Despite all these, there have been a lot of women who have been revealing negative experiences upon using the balm on their lips. They claim that they have suffered rashes, blisters and other allergic reactions.
Recently, a Class action lawsuit has been filed by criminal defense lawyer 'Mark Geragos' against the EOS lip balm. Her client Rachael Cronin has claimed in the statement that the product gave her rashes, bleeding, blistering and her mouth to crack.
According to court documents, Cronin's lips had become "substantially dry and coarse ... [and] began severely cracking on the edges, causing flaking and bleeding from the cracks", Cited BuzzFeed.
She demands corrective advertising that read as follows:
"By the next day, Ms. Cronin's lips and surrounding skin area had severe blistering and rashes causing her to seek medical care," it wrote. "Ms.Cronin was in severe shock and panic. Ms. Cronin's condition consisted for approximately 10 days."
In addition to this, the court documents also cited other people who claimed similar side effects. There were an umpteen of them writing negative review statements on Facebook and twitter alike.
However, despite the lawsuit filed against the the company, Its spokesperson has said that they believe that the case filed against them is one without merit.
"We firmly believe this lawsuit is without merit," said the company in a statement cited by the source above. "Our products are made with the highest quality ingredients and meet or exceed all safety and quality standards set out by our industry and validated by rigorous testing conducted by an independent lab."
"The health and well-being of our customers is our top priority and millions of satisfied customers use our products every day, many of whom take the time to share their experiences with us," added the statement released by EOS lip balm in regards to the lawsuit they are currently facing.
