Original 'Chronicles Of Narnia' Cast Will Not Join 'The Silver Chair' Says Director

The "Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair" will be a reboot of the entire franchise and won't feature any of the original cast members, sources recently reported.

The adaptation of C.S. Lewis' "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair" has been been stuck in development limbo for quite some time now. The project's last update came from writer David Magee, who tweeted in June last year that he has completed the first draft of the film. Now, Collider has gotten word from producer Mark Gordon that the project is not only alive, but also being rebooted completely with a new cast.

"It's all going to be a brand new franchise," Gordon revealed. "All original. All original characters, different directors, and an entire new team that this is coming from. We're hoping to be able to make the movie very shortly. We're very excited about it."

"The Silver Chair" takes place after the events of "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", with King Caspian X now an old man seacrhing for his heir, Prince Rilian. Aslan goes to England for the assistance of Eustace Scrubb, who was introduced in "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader," and Jill Pole to help find him.

The Mark Gordon Company and The C.S. Lewis Company purchased the rights the the franchise from The Walden Group in 2013, when they first announced plans for the fourth book's big screen adaptation.

According to CBR, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair," whose cast is yet to be revealed, follows King Caspian X as he seeks help from Alsan to find his son and heir, Prince Rillan. Alsan visits England and recruits boarding school students Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pole to help track down the missing prince.

Producers have not yet set a release date for "The Silver Chair."
