Both Hugh Dancy and Bryan Fuller are hopeful of Hannibal season 4 or at least a feature movie

Many fans are probably still disappointed that NBC didn't give a green light for "Hannibal" season 4 renewal. But the series may not be cancelled for good as star Hugh Dancy is still talking about the show's possible plot.

The actor, who plays FBI agent Will Graham who's chasing main character Hannibal Lecter, said series creator Bryan Fuller told him about their plan for "Hannibal" season 4. He even teased more about the plot as he described the storyline as "fantastic."

"Bryan [Fuller] pitched it to me ... well, he, described to me in an overview with what he wanted to do with the 4th season, had there been an interest, and it was really fantastic," he said in an interview with Collider.

He even laid down the cards about the possible renewal of "Hannibal" for season 4 even after it got cancelled as he spoke more about the plot.

"It was a complete restart, without describing it - because who knows, God knows, maybe some way we may be able to do it in the future - but it took us back to the first season in a very unexpected way, and made total sense of that cliffhanger ending; it seemed justified."

Some "Hannibal" fans are probably hoping the new chapter will be about Clarice Starling and Buffalo Bill but that is not case though, according to Hugh Dancy.

"It was born out of a part of one of the books so it was still coming out of that universe, but it wasn't the Clarice / Silence of the Lambs storyline," he explained.

But while things seem to be in place for the cancelled show, the guarantee of "Hannibal" season 4 renewal is still up in the air.

In previous interviews, Fuller said a movie might come up and will still feature the same cast.

But Hugh Dancy said he does not know anything about the said movie although he digs the idea.

"The answer is I don't know. I think we'd all be happy to return in some capacity, and the idea of a movie is really interesting," he said.

Bryan Fuller is currently busy with his new show, "American Gods," based on Neil Gaiman's novel of the same name. Hugh Dancy, on the other hand, stars in Hulu TV series "The Path," which will air on March.

Mads Mikkelsen is the busiest of them all as he snatched a pivotal role in Marvel movie "Doctor Strange" and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

"Hannibal" was cancelled last year due to low ratings.
