Jeonghan x Joshua DREAMSCAPE: 656,011 First-Day Sales Record
656,011 copies in a single day. That is how many SEVENTEEN's Jeonghan and Joshua sold of their first unit mini album, DREAMSCAPE, on Oct. 19, according to Hanteo Chart figures reported Oct. 20. It is the highest first-day total ever recorded for a K-pop unit album, allkpop reports.
The album ranked No. 1 on Hanteo's daily album chart. Abroad, it took No. 1 on China's QQ Music daily "Digital Bestseller Album" chart and earned a double gold certification, the tier for 500,000 yuan in sales, about three hours after release. In Japan it topped LINE MUSIC's real-time Album Top 100. On iTunes Top Albums it reached No. 1 in six countries and regions and No. 6 on the Worldwide Album chart.
The title track, "12 o'clock," reached No. 2 on Bugs' real-time chart and No. 8 and No. 9 on LINE MUSIC's real-time new-song and overall song charts. It entered iTunes Top Songs in 13 countries and regions, ranking No. 1 in Singapore, the Philippines and Argentina, and placed No. 34 on the Worldwide Song chart. A challenge video for the song, posted to Instagram on Oct. 12, passed 210 million views in about a week.
BSS's SECOND WIND sold 478,600 copies on its first day in February 2023, and Jeonghan x Wonwoo's THIS MAN sold 787,046 over its whole first week in June 2024, according to Soompi. DREAMSCAPE's first day alone equals about 83 percent of that seven-day total. allkpop does not name the unit album whose record it broke, so those two releases are points of comparison, not the record it replaced.
The seven-track album, released Oct. 19, is framed as one story about dreams during sleep and dreams pursued awake, the Korea Times reports. The lead single blends dance-rock with 1970s and 1980s disco and funk. Joshua took an active part in production, and some songs written during the process did not make the final list. A teaser released Oct. 18 showed a train seemingly covered in snake scales and a meadow. Jeonghan told the paper he felt "some nerves as I return to promotions."
Promotions begin on Mnet's M Countdown on Thursday, Oct. 22. The pair's concert, JEONGHAN X JOSHUA JOURNEY INTO [DREAMING], will visit six cities in Korea and abroad. The first shows, Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 at INSPIRE Arena in Incheon, sold out on the day fan club membership presale opened.
M Countdown comes first, on Thursday. The Incheon opener is Oct. 30.
