Kourtney Kardashian on Jennifer Lawrence: 'Slap' Remark
Kourtney Kardashian opened Season 8 of "The Kardashians" furious at Jennifer Lawrence, and by the end of the scene she was admitting she had overreacted, according to TMZ's account of the Hulu premiere, which dropped Thursday, Oct. 8.
The trigger was a clip nearly a year old. In a Vanity Fair lie-detector interview in November 2025, Robert Pattinson, Lawrence's "Die My Love" co-star, asked whether she still keeps up with the Kardashians. Lawrence said she had skipped this season and named Khloé as her favorite, then said Kourtney was "more annoying than ever" and "drives me nuts." Coverage of the interview said Lawrence pointed to Kourtney's habit of turning personal decisions into public announcements.
In the premiere, TMZ reports, Kourtney told Simon Huck she was upset over the comment. She said Lawrence had spoken to Kris Jenner about it, and told Kris: "OK, she thinks she's one of my sisters?" She then said she would "slap" Lawrence. She also told Huck she could not understand the complaint, because she is "literally at home breastfeeding and doing nothing else."
The scene turns after that. According to TMZ, Kourtney admitted that after rewatching the clip, Lawrence did not deserve to be slapped. She said she took the comment too personally during a "really sensitive week" when she felt everyone was ganging up on her. TMZ closes by saying it sounds like the two talked it out. That is TMZ's reading; its report did not cite a statement from either woman about a conversation.
The feud is lopsided in one respect: Lawrence has been one of the family's most public fans. She told Jimmy Fallon in 2017 that she had the Kardashians' show playing on a computer on the set of "mother!" to get through its darkest scenes, Fox News reported. The Vanity Fair line landed against that history, which is partly why it traveled.
Lawrence has also joked about it herself. On Amy Poehler's "Good Hang" podcast, Newsweek reported, she recited the headline, "Jennifer Lawrence calls Kourtney Kardashian annoying," and the Press Association quoted her saying that when she reads her own press quotes, "they're insane."
Season 8 is billed by Hulu as being "all about love, reinvention, and what comes next," per TV Insider. If it follows the usual 10-episode pattern, TV Insider projects it running through Dec. 10. TMZ's report did not include a response from Lawrence to the premiere.
The line that spent a year as a headline is now a scene on Hulu, and Lawrence had already turned it into a punchline herself.
