Hearts2Hearts Just Made Its Japan Debut. Oricon Was Already Watching.
Hearts2Hearts released its first Japanese single, "ICONIC HEART," Wednesday, officially launching the eight-member group's activities in a market where it had already been charting before ever releasing music there. The single carries three tracks - the title song, "Lemon Tang (Japanese Ver.)," and "RUDE! (Japanese Ver.)" - following a global pre-release of the same songs on August 10.
SM Entertainment describes the title track as a song about the rush of chasing something bigger than yourself. The music video landed alongside the single Wednesday. Hearts2Hearts will follow the release with a debut commemoration live and talk event, an appearance at the WANGAN Festival, and a performance of "Lemon Tang" on TV Asahi's long-running "Music Station" this Friday - the kind of local media rollout SM typically reserves for groups it expects to stick.
That expectation isn't blind optimism. Hearts2Hearts debuted in February 2025 with "The Chase" and has spent the year and a half since building a Japanese fanbase without a formal local release: its first EP, "Focus," topped Oricon's Daily Album Chart, "Style" hit No. 1 on Billboard Japan's Heatseekers Songs chart, and "Lemon Tang" reached No. 2 on Oricon's Daily Album Chart on the strength of imports and streaming alone. The group had already released a Japanese-language version of "RUDE!" in March, months ahead of any official debut plan.
The eight members - Jiwoo, Carmen, Yuha, Stella, Juun, A-na, Ian, and Ye-on - hold the Hanteo record for highest first-week sales of any girl group debut album, set with "The Chase" in 2025, and closed out last year with recognition at the Melon Music Awards, MAMA, and the Seoul Music Awards as one of the most-watched rookie acts of 2025. "ICONIC HEART" is the first real test of whether that momentum, built almost entirely on catalog performance and streaming numbers, converts into the kind of sustained local activity - TV appearances, festival slots, a dedicated fanbase - that turns a promising overseas chart run into an actual second home market.
Hearts2Hearts is scheduled to attend the 2026 TIMA awards in Hong Kong on August 22, extending the group's international run without pausing for a break.
