Charlie Puth told the crowd at Goyang Stadium that he had prepared "a very special stage" for the night. Then TWICE's Nayeon walked out and sang Selena Gomez's part of "We Don't Talk Anymore."

The duet came at the Oct. 11 Seoul stop of Puth's "Whatever's Clever!" world tour, which started at 7 p.m. KST. It was his first stadium show in a 10-year career and his first solo concert in Korea in about two years, according to the Korea Herald. Allkpop put attendance at about 38,000.

Nayeon traded lines with Puth, danced with him and hugged him when the song ended, allkpop reported. She thanked the audience briefly before leaving the stage while Puth urged the crowd to cheer for her, the Herald said. On Monday, Puth posted photos from the show, tagged Nayeon to thank her and thanked the roughly 40,000 fans in the venue, allkpop reported.

Neither JYP Entertainment nor Puth's side has announced a joint release. Rumors that a Twice member had been seen rehearsing at the venue spread earlier on Sunday, the Herald reported, and JYP was unavailable for comment.

Part of Twice's fandom pushed back before the duet happened. After the rehearsal rumor, several fan accounts on X said they would not engage with the appearance or any future collaboration. One account wrote that Once would not be "promoting, engaging nor supporting" such a project, the Herald reported.

The objections center on Puth's past remarks and social media activity. Some fans accuse him of holding pro-Israel views, citing posts he liked or shared, according to the Herald, which noted that Puth has not publicly identified himself as a Zionist. Fans also resurfaced criticism of comments he made in a 2023 interview about the inspiration for his 2017 hit "Attention." Similar criticism surfaced in 2024, when Stray Kids announced a collaboration with him on "Lose My Breath."

Puth has a long Korean track record. He first performed in the country in 2016 and collaborated with BTS's Jungkook on 2022's "Left and Right." In a recent JTBC interview, he said he loves K-pop and has recently been listening to Cortis, Twice and Enhypen. "We Don't Talk Anymore," released in 2016, was originally recorded with Gomez.

Puth's Asian leg continues in Manila, Tokyo, Taoyuan and Hong Kong this month, followed by New Zealand and Australia in November. Twice's next scheduled public event is its 11th anniversary fan party in Seoul on Oct. 17, with 750 seats across three sessions.
