The Weeknd Korea Concert Review: Goyang Night
Metal mask on, The Weeknd opened at Goyang Stadium with "Baptized in Fear" while lasers and lights filled the stadium, Starnews reported. Two nights, Oct. 7 and 8, sold roughly 108,000 tickets for his first Korea shows since 2018, part of the After Hours Til Dawn tour. This review covers both nights, written within 48 hours of the second.
The set, as reported, runs straight ahead. After the opener came "Open Hearts," "Wake Me Up," "After Hours," "Starboy," "Heartless," "Faith" and "Cry for Me," then later "Stargirl," "Out of Time," "I Feel It Coming" and "Die for You." Starnews described the setlist as packed more densely than any other performance. The tour supports his 2025 album, "Hurry Up Tomorrow," and the show opens on that material before the older hits take over. Japan's Creepy Nuts opened for him, starting at 6:45 p.m.
The best moment came on night two. Jennie of BLACKPINK walked out for "One Of The Girls," the 2023 song from HBO's "The Idol" that she recorded with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp. She wore a purple see-through bodysuit and full bangs, and about 50,000 people were watching. At the end they hugged, and he kept waving as she left the stage. She called him "Jumal oppa," the nickname Korean fans use for him, told him in Korean to enjoy the show, and then reportedly watched the rest from the audience, allkpop reported. It works because it is small: one song, no speech, one hug. It also closes a loop. Jennie watched his 2018 Korea show from the stands.
Night one did not get it. "One Of The Girls" was on that setlist too, and it ran without Jennie, which left fans disappointed. The accounts of both nights also read like a hit parade. None mention a deep cut or a stripped-back stretch, so the lasers, the mask and the lighting carry the pacing from the first song to the last. The local ad-libs, "Korea, this is Goyang City" mid-song and "Beautiful Korea" after the mask came off, drew cheers, but they are gestures, not surprises.
This is the limitation of reviewing from a distance: we did not attend. This review is built from Starnews's on-site reports, allkpop's account of night two, tour announcements and setlist details. Reports cannot tell you how the vocals sat in the mix, how the sightlines worked from the upper deck, or how roughly 50,000 people moved out of Goyang after the final song. The rating is provisional until fuller footage is available.
What the two nights show is a headliner whose drawing power has not slowed. The tour has run 153 shows for about 7.5 million attendees since July 2022, and the Korean run was a Hyundai Card Super Concert, only the third at roughly 100,000 capacity after Coldplay in 2017 and Bruno Mars in 2023. Near the end of the show he promised the crowd, "I promise I will definitely come back to Korea," Starnews quoted. Hyundai Card said in September that the Asian dates would close out the tour, so Seoul sits near the end of it.
An 8 means the strengths sit clearly above the weaknesses: a dense, hit-heavy setlist, a guest moment that mattered to a Korean crowd, and a scale few acts reach in Korea. What keeps it from a 9 is that, from the reports available, the night took little risk. A show this polished can still feel like a closed loop, and a review written from outside the stadium cannot test that. The shows were 19-and-over, and tickets went through NOL Ticket.
The Weeknd's After Hours Til Dawn tour continues through its Asian dates. Hyundai Card Super Concert 28 was presented by Hyundai Card; tickets were sold through NOL Ticket.
