Sacramento Street in Lima's Santiago de Surco district has a new name this week. Signs reading "Avenida BTS" went up October 5 and stay until October 11. Tonight, October 7, BTS plays Estadio San Marcos for the first time, opening a three-night run in Peru.

Showtime is 8 p.m. local, according to Ticketmaster Peru's listing as reported by Peruvian outlet El Tiempo. That is 8 p.m. in Chicago and 10 a.m. Thursday in Seoul. The other two shows are October 9 and 10.

Demand was lopsided from the start. PromPeru, the country's export and tourism promotion agency, says more than 521,000 people waited in online lines for tickets, and the Korea Herald reports the three concerts are expected to draw between 96,000 and 156,000 people in total. The October 7 date was added after the first two nights sold out within two hours of presale, El Comercio reported. Official prices run from 483 to 851 soles by zone. On one resale platform, listings for October 10 reached 7,115 soles, according to local outlet KCH Comunicación, and Indecopi, Peru's consumer protection agency, has opened an inquiry into the presale and sales process, Panamericana reported.

The city has joined in. The Arco Morisco in Parque de la Amistad was lit purple on October 5 and hosts a nightly BTS light show through October 11. The Fountain of Fantasy at the Magic Water Circuit is running a BTS-themed show of music, lights and water screens over the same dates, allkpop reported. Fans are also organizing what has been billed as South America's first BTS tribute drone show over Costa Verde, the Herald said.

Some of the fan activity predates the tour. In late March, Peru's BTS fan club planted about 2,000 native trees in the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu as part of "One Million Trees," a restoration campaign led by Sernanp, the national protected areas agency, EFE reported. Fans who donate online are to receive official recognition for a "Bosque BTS" there.

Bogotá set the template last weekend. BTS played Estadio El Campín on October 2 and 3 for about 100,000 fans, allkpop reported, after the city issued a September 30 decree naming the group guests of honor. Bogotá's Economic Development Secretariat estimated the two shows would generate about $37.9 million in economic activity. V greeted the crowd in Spanish, and Korean media reported that search interest in his name hit the maximum score of 100 on Google Trends afterward.

For U.S. readers, the scale is easier to place against the North American run. Live Nation put BTS at about 2.4 million tickets sold across 41 North American and European shows before the South American dates were even announced.

Lima is the second stop on a 14-show South American leg. Santiago follows October 14, 16 and 17, then Buenos Aires on October 21, 23 and 24. São Paulo closes the run October 28, 30 and 31, where Ticketmaster Brasil says more than 630,000 people joined the fan club presale.
