Netflix has filled out the cast of its live-action "Solo Leveling." Han So-hee will play Cha Hae-in, Kang You-seok plays Yoo Jinho and Sung Joon plays Woo Jinchul, alongside lead Byeon Woo-seok as Sung Jin-woo. Lee Sung-min and Jung Ji-hoon, the singer-actor known as Rain, join in special appearances. Netflix announced the lineup on October 6. It gave no premiere date, saying only that the series is "coming soon."

Netflix's announcement describes each role. Cha Hae-in is the only woman among Korea's nine S-rank hunters, a motorcycle-riding fighter who wields a longsword. Yoo Jinho is a C-rank hunter and the second son of the Yoojin Group family who comes to look up to Sung Jin-woo after a dungeon quest. Woo Jinchul is an A-rank hunter and chief inspector of the Korean Hunters Association's Surveillance Team, the first person to suspect Sung Jin-woo has awakened new powers.

The two special appearances are senior figures. Lee Sung-min plays Go Gunhee, the retired top-tier hunter who chairs the Hunters Association. Rain plays Baek Yoonho, an S-rank hunter who can transform into a beast and heads the White Tiger Guild, ranked second among the five major guilds. Netflix lists the actor under his legal name, Jung Ji-hoon, with "Bloodhounds Season 2" as his credit; Soompi's report on the announcement names him as Rain.

Behind the camera, Han Dong-wook joins as co-director. He won Best Director for television at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards for "The Worst of Evil" and made his feature directing debut with "Man in Love," Netflix said. The series is produced by SANAI Pictures with Kakao Entertainment.

Netflix presents the project as the leap into live action of a franchise that began as a web novel and expanded into webtoons, animation and games. For U.S. viewers, the best-known version is the anime adaptation, whose second season ran from January to March 2025 on Crunchyroll, according to anime site Anime Corner. The live-action series follows the same premise: Sung Jin-woo, the weakest hunter, gains extraordinary abilities after a near-fatal dungeon encounter and rises toward becoming the strongest.

Some casting had circulated before Netflix confirmed it. Korean media reported Han So-hee's involvement earlier, and her agency said at that time only that she was in talks. A separate June report from Newsen said Cha Woo-min had been cast as the villain Baruka. Netflix's October 6 announcement does not mention Cha or Baruka, so that casting remains unconfirmed.

Netflix has named a lead, three principal supporting actors, two special guests and a co-director. It has not said when the series arrives.
