BLACKPINK Solo Comebacks: Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo in 8 Days
Three BLACKPINK members, three solo singles, eight days. Jisoo's "Click" landed at 1 p.m. Friday in Seoul, a day after Lisa's "SaWaDiKa" and a week after Jennie's Fallen Angel. The group itself has announced nothing.
Jennie moved first. Her label, Odd Atelier, released the three-track Fallen Angel on August 28, describing it as "a gift from JENNIE, with love." Lisa followed with "SaWaDiKa" on September 3, the lead single from her six-track EP Press Play, due October 23. Sony Music Entertainment Korea, which distributes the release, calls it a hip-hop-driven showcase for Lisa's rapping built around her Thai roots - the title comes from "sawatdee ka," a Thai greeting, and the rollout included red "HELLO SAWADIKA" billboards across Thailand. Jisoo closed the run with "Click," teased through a video of glitching, animatronic carnival figures. Her agency, Blissoo, has called it the first pre-release single from her debut full-length solo album - her first new solo music since "Eyes Closed," her 2025 collaboration with Zayn.
Not everyone waited for the songs to form an opinion. When Lisa posted a preview clip on August 25, one fan on X wrote: "Isn't she tired with this diva boss baddie lalalisa persona? we're not in 2020 anymore like no shade." The post drew thousands of likes within hours, though other BLINKs pushed back, arguing a 15-second teaser wasn't enough to judge a full song. Billboard has reported that no BLACKPINK label has confirmed the three releases are building toward a group project - the shared timing, so far, is the only thing that's verified.
That timing is unusual because the four members no longer share management the way they did through 2023. Rosé releases through YG Entertainment; Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo each run their own companies. Rosé has not announced a comeback of her own - her last solo release, "rosie," came out in December 2024. Three former groupmates landing on the same charts in the same eight-day window is something that happened only sporadically during BLACKPINK's earlier hiatus periods.
The releases also follow a rockier-than-usual anniversary month. BLACKPINK marked its 10th debut anniversary on August 8 with a fan meet at the National Museum of Korea capped at 40 attendees and announced only two days ahead of the event - a scale that drew visible frustration from fans expecting something larger, along with speculation over whether Rosé and Lisa would attend. Jisoo was seen in tears there after receiving handwritten letters from fans; she later addressed the reaction on a fan platform: "I hope everyone doesn't overthink my tears. I just want to see them as deep emotion for the ten years we've been together."
Lisa's calendar extends well past "SaWaDiKa": her film "Always Lalisa" premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival between September 10 and 20, and her first concert residency, "Viva La Lisa," opens at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on November 13. Whatever comes after that is still whichever label gets there first.
