Jungkook Album Logo Controversy: BTS Fans Clash Over Dating Rumor Theories
BTS member Jungkook designed the logo for the group's upcoming album "ARIRANG," but the creative contribution sparked unexpected backlash when some fans claimed the design referenced ongoing dating rumors with aespa's Winter.
Logo Design Rooted in Korean Culture
Jungkook revealed during a January 17 Weverse livestream that he created the album's logo while working with BTS in the United States. He sketched approximately four design concepts on his iPad, which BigHit Music later developed into the final version.
The logo features three red circles representing the Korean consonants "ㅇㄹㄹ" - the initial sounds of "Arirang" written in Hangul. The traditional folk song "Arirang" symbolizes longing and resilience in Korean culture and inspired the album title.
Unfounded Rumor Connections Spark Backlash
Shortly after the logo reveal, some social media users connected the three-circle design to alleged "couple tattoos" supposedly shared by Jungkook and Winter. The claim suggests both idols have tattoos featuring three dog faces on their arms.
Dating speculation between the two K-pop stars began in summer 2025 with claims about matching accessories, similar Instagram usernames, and overlapping schedules. The rumors intensified in December 2025 when fans noticed similar tattoo designs on both artists' arms.
Neither BigHit Music nor SM Entertainment has confirmed or denied the relationship rumors.
Fan Community Split on Speculation
The majority of BTS fans defended Jungkook's logo design, pointing out the obvious connection to Korean script. One fan posted on X: "This is literally how Arirang is written in Korean. Connecting it to dating rumors is ridiculous."
However, a small but vocal group criticized Jungkook, with some claiming he "ruined" the comeback by allegedly incorporating personal references into group content. These critics pointed to the timing - the logo reveal came just weeks after renewed dating speculation.
Pattern of Baseless Claims
The Jungkook-Winter dating rumors have followed a familiar pattern in K-pop fan culture, where supporters scrutinize every detail for relationship "evidence." Previous claims included:
- Similar nail polish colors spotted days apart
- Instagram usernames allegedly referencing each other
- Matching clothing items from the same brands
- Shared music selections on social media posts
- Jungkook attending an aespa concert during military leave in March 2025
Most media observers and fans dismiss these connections as coincidental.
Legal Action Against Harassment
SM Entertainment issued a statement on December 10, 2025, announcing legal action against individuals harassing Winter online. The agency identified "sexual harassment, defamation, personal attacks, privacy violations, and deepfake content" targeting the singer across multiple platforms.
The company stated it would pursue both criminal and civil cases "firmly and without leniency."
Protest trucks appeared outside BigHit's headquarters in December 2025, though many fans questioned their authenticity, noting suspicious newly-created social media accounts promoting them.
Agency Silence Fuels Speculation
Both companies have remained largely silent about the dating rumors, contrasting with their past responses. BigHit quickly denied Jungkook's 2021 dating rumors with actress Lee Yu Bi. SM Entertainment similarly dismissed Winter's rumored relationship with ENHYPEN's Jungwon in 2024.
The current silence has divided fan opinion. Some interpret it as confirmation while others see strategic non-engagement with baseless speculation.
Album Release Details
"ARIRANG" releases March 20, 2026, marking BTS's first full-group album in nearly four years. The 14-track project follows the completion of all seven members' mandatory military service.
The group will launch a world tour beginning April 9, 2026, in Goyang, South Korea, with over 70 shows scheduled globally through 2027.
Jungkook's logo design remains a point of pride for most fans, who view the controversy as an unfortunate distraction from BTS's long-awaited comeback.
