Goodbye to Gravity

This is probably one of the saddest news in rock music scene lately as members of band Goodbye to Gravity are included in the list of casualties in the Romanian nightclub fire tragedy, according to a report from Loudwire.

The metalcore band was formed in 2010, and is considered one of the most promising acts in the Romanian rock music scene. Members of Goodbye to Gravity include Andrei Galut on vocals, Mihai Alexandru and Vlad Telea on guitars, Alex Pascu on bass and Bogdan Enache on drums.

However, tragedy struck the band as they promoted their second album "Mantras of War." A release party was held on Friday, Oct. 30, at Colectiv night club in the capital city of Bucharest. A fire broke out which was caused by sparks from pyrotechnics which spread out in no time through the inferior insulation in the venue. As the club only has two exits, it caused a stampede as people tried to escape from the premises.

Initial number of casualties was counted at 26 during the outbreak of the club fire incident, and as more victims are being rushed to nearby hospitals for immediate treatment, the death toll rose in the following days with the latest count now up to 53 people dead in the tragedy, according to Associated Press via The Washington Times.

Goodbye to Gravity members Alexandru and Telea were included in the initial list of casualties from the fire, while drummer Enache passed away on Nov. 8 while being transferred to a medical facility in Switzerland. Not long after, bassist Pascu died on Wednesday, Nov. 11 while being transferred to a medical facility in Paris.

The only band member to survive the tragedy is vocalist Galut, 31, who is still in serious condition as of press time. He was reported to have suffered burns on 45 percent of his body. Meanwhile, the band's label Universal Music Romania agreed to donate all sales proceeds of "Mantras of War" to fire victims.
